Just found the Jimmy Hughes 'Something Special' LP on Stax as well. Different, but just as good in my opinion.

John Gary W was the lead singer of Mad Lads and stayed with Stax from the early days til the last. Musically and more, this is where the southern groove meets seventies social consciousness. Memphis, baby.
